This week the majority of our roof was installed.
The plumbers finished their in-wall work and passed the city's inspection.
The a/c work is complete and passed the city's inspection.
Electricians and the low-voltage wiring is being installed.
Brick is ordered. The stone for the front of the house is ordered.
We met with the cabinet maker to start plans.
Most of the windows have been installed. We are waiting on a few casement windows still.
We also met with 2 pool companies. That one is up in the air but we are hoping we can do a pool before we move in also.
The boys all started school and preschool. It has been quite the busy few weeks of life!!

Lots of work
There has been lots of progress on the house. The plumbers are almost finished with all the stuff that goes in the walls. All 3 bathtubs are sitting in the dining room.
The electricians marked where all the plugs and lights are going. They will install next week.
The A/C units and duct work will be installed tomorrow.
Roof will be installed soon.
We meet with the cabinet maker tomorrow to start that design process.
All but 3 Windows are in and those should arrive next week.
Once windows are installed and roof is on, we will start install of Sheetrock.
Most of the progress this week is hard to show in pics. But trust me, it's coming right along!

Earthwork
We finally have progress on the house! The dirt work started this week. Extra dirt had to be brought in to raise the front of the house even with the garage in back.
Progress is a great thing!

The trees
Our lot has some amazing trees. Unfortunately, one is smack dab in the middle of the (current and future) driveway. I don't really need more obstacles in the way. I do well enough to keep away from them without added challenges.
The other is a beautiful 110 year old pecan tree. It is about 2' from the current front door and right in the middle of our future family room. I hate to take the tree down but it has totally destroyed the foundation of the current house (which is why we are not adding on to it). We just can't take the risk that it will do the same to our future home.

The lot
We bought a lot for our new casa! I am using this blog to document our home-building process. If the first few months of the process are any indication, we will be doing this one time only in our lives!
We love our current home, but we could use another bedroom and want to send the boys to public schools. That is not possible in our current home. So, we are building a new place.
The house before:
Saturday we had to have some trees removed. We hated to do it, but they were in the middle of the lot and had already torn up the foundation of the current house.
Last Saturday took 5 guys 12 hours. More will come down later. Then on to demo of the house. We are working on plans for the house too. Very exciting!!!
